 Roselle (Hibiscus Sabdariffa) is a species of Hibiscus probably native to West Africa, , in which it may be known as carcade. It is an annual or perennial herb or woody-based subshrub, growing to 2-2.5 m (7-8 ft) tall. Conical or irregular, 2.5 ~ 4cm long, 2cm in diameter, calyx purple-red to purple-black, 5-lobed, lobes lanceolate, lower part of bracteole with calyx union, 10 lobes, lanceolate, base with cavity after removal of fruit.Corolla yellowish brown, outer surface has linear stripe, inner surface base is yellowish brown, occasionally sparsely shaggy.Light and brittle.It has a slight fragrance and sour taste.
